VCU

The VCU French West Africa Project  began as a  grant project funded by the U.S. Department of Education (2012-16) and its Title VI Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language program.

Faculty at Virignia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and their West African partners have expanded the exchange of students and scholars in both Mali and the Ivory Coast since the funding ended. They engage in joint research activities, and institutional partnerships have promoted English for Special Purposes and economic development.

The US Department of Education has as an overarching goal to promote U.S.- Africa relations through its Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language programs.
